iPhone 3G Packaged in Potato, not Plastic

iPhone 3g

If you’re like most kids in our generation (the privileged, coddled, more-valuable-than-ever millenials) you either already have an iPhone, or you want the new 3G. We, as a unit, are enthralled by sleek, chic technology and aesthetic internet interfaces. It may be because we learned American History via Oregon Trail on those ancient green screen Apples, (way back when Silicon Valley was Google-less and Greenland was icy) and have remained loyal consumers ever since.

iPhone 3G will be delivered to the masses on July 11th with more than a price reduction and faster connection to boot. After an attack by Greenpeace in 2007 regarding minuscule but highly toxic parts in last year’s model, Steve Jobs and Co. have been seeking ways to make their pop culture product more environmentally friendly. They found that by replacing the plastic packaging for a potato product they are curbing their carbon footprint by 90%. Some leaked reviews give suggestions on whether or not you should already trade in your old, ancient 2007 model.

Hayden Panettiere in Heroes Fashion

Hayden Panettiere

Hayden Panettiere suits up Matrix-style this September for the third season of Heroes, and she tells TV Guide Magazine that fans can expect a flash-forward where sweet Claire Bear “…becomes mean, damaged and kinda nuts – the 180-degree opposite of the character we know.”

Thanks to Keanu Reeves’ adventures, black rubber garments have become associated with many dystopic futures, but that oh-so-slick style that sci-fi heroes and villains seem to crave is largely made of PVC (polyvinyl chloride). PVC is one of the most dangerous plastics available because it releases cancer causing chemicals into the environment during and after production (plus, only 0.1% to 3% of it can be recycled).

While Claire can heal from practically everything, most of us can’t which is why checking out the Center for Health, Environment, and Justice is a good place to look for non-PVC products, like 100% organic cotton cheerleading uniforms…
