Store Adore

For those of you who love to shop (and for those of you love to talk about shopping): get ready for Store Adore, an online social network devoted entirely to, you guessed it, shopping. This web-based guide celebrates shopping for the social activity it is; according to cofounder Cristina Miller, “[Store Adore] is not only about buying and it’s not about consumption for the sake of consumption. We’re all about the experience of shopping.”

Cofounders and Harvard Business School grads, Meredith Barnett and Cristina Miller describe their brainchild as “Citysearch meets Zagat meets Facebook” — a forum and information source about the best boutique shopping in the country and online.

Here’s where it gets really good: Store Adore makes green shopping impossibly simple and accessible with its green shopping guides and blogs which spotlight stores in cities nationwide that sell the trendiest green gear.

Live in Philly? Lucky for you. Store Adore just launched in the City of Brotherly Love and the site’s reporters have already covered the go-to green stores where you can buy your next pair of Loudermilk jeans or Te Casan slingbacks. Store Adore’s writers have already scoured, background checked and reviewed boutiques in New York, Boston, LA, Chicago, Washington DC, Brooklyn and most recently the Hamptons and Philadelphia.

Meredith Barnett and Cristina Miller

Shops and brands featured in the green guide are the cream of the crop. Barnett explains that these are, “stores whose whole mission is to be green, or have made it a point to be green… We love green glamour that focuses on wearing, living and giving with really stylish modern, focused products.”

10% of the stores featured on the site are green, serving up eco-friendly styles for all tastes ranging from hippy-dippy hemp gear to Bergordorf-worthy luxury goods. Miller and Barnett rave about their favorites, Beautorium, Elsewheres, and Greenloop which, among other shops on the site, offer Store Adore users a delightful discount. Miller sums up, “green is a huge trend in retail, people are trying to live more consciously in way that’s still stylish. We look for stores that are eco-friendly which sell things beyond the burlap sack.” We couldn’t agree more…burlap is so passé.

So for all you fellow eco-minded shopaholics looking for the next green thing, look no further: enjoy the experience of green shopping at StoreAdore.com.

Miley Cyrus Wants to be A Big-less Carrie Bradshaw

Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus wishes to promote abstinence to her young fans by doing “a younger, cleaner version of Sex and the City.” The purity-ring-wearing Cyrus lists the Bible at the top of her list of seven things that she cannot live without (not to be confused with the “7 Things” she doesn’t like about her ex-boyfriend). Considering Miley has the midas touch, HarperCollins should consider contacting her to promote their Green Bible this fall which boasts a cotton/linen cover, partly recycled paper, soy-based ink, and passages about caring for the earth highlighted in green. Though the cred of a starlet promoting the Good Book is suspect when one considers past virgin spokeswoman, Britney Spears. We all know how well that turned out.
