Ed Westwick as Chuck Bass

THE GREENHORNE REPORTHello guys! Not too much news this weekend, just counting the days till the Olympics begin!

Although she obviously hasn’t given up plastic like Kathie Griffin, Pamela Anderson is building an environmentally friendly hotel in Dubai. You got it; the royal family asked her to build a luxury, green, hotel in an emirate built on the oil industry. Now oil and gas make up only 6% of the country’s GDP, so it’s obviously a step in the right direction. We just wonder how much Pam will actually be involved with this, given her new tv show and all.

Totes dramz in the Senate. Three democratic senators: Barbara Boxer of California, Sheldon Whitehouse of Rhode Island and Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota call for EPA chief Steven Johnson’s resignation. They claim that Johnson sided with pollutors instead of devoting himself to preventing and ending ecological problems.

HIV rate 40% higher than expected. A recent study by the Center for Disease Control shows that 56,300 people became infected with AIDS in 2006 as opposed to the 40,000 that the US had previously estimated. The study found the virus to be most prevalent among gay and bisexual men as well as African-Americans.

Teen Choice Awards tonight! Miley Cyrus is hosting, despite the recent leakage of more scandalous photos on the interwebs. But should be a good time, I personally am really excited about the Choice TV Villain nominees. Although Vanessa Williams, from Ugly Betty, and Zachary Sisto, from Heroes, are among the nominees, I’m looking forward to the race between Spencer Pratt and Ed Westwick. Although, since The Hills is a “reality” tv show, that means Spencer is evil in real life, whereas Chuck Bass is hot and British and a rockstar!

Pelosi Digs in As Obama Gives Ground on Offshore Drilling

Nancy Pelosi has a word with Barack Obama

After weeks of steadfast opposition, Barack Obama now says offshore drilling is on the table. We hate to call him a flip-flopper, but if Barack were Whitney Houston he’d say: "Show me the receipts!" And if we were Diane Sawyer, we would gladly produce a handful of speech transcripts proving us right.

While Barack (and McCain) think offshore drilling will help them become President, Nancy Pelosi is House Speaker. (If the Federal government were a game of Asshole, she’d be Treasurer…unless only four people were playing, in which case she’d be Vice Asshole.) Number Three refuses to hold a House vote on the issue—despite the political heat—that would put legislation in motion to allow the first new oil rigs off American shores since 1982. Politicians are so much ballsier when they’re not facing reelection.
