Veganism is often misunderstood as claiming that the circle of life does not, in the words of Elton John, move us all. Besides animal rights, vegans like hip-hop legend Russell Simmons care about the earth, too, linking factory animal agriculture to pollution and land destruction. This means we can get on board with groups like Vegetarian Shoes & Bags and Alternative Outfitters that make it easier to buy completely vegan products—no leather, animal glue or fur—by finding them for you. Some of the profits are donated to different animal charities, which are hopefully getting just as much as Madonna’s Raising Malawi charity got from A-Rod ($500,000), who, of course, is just a very good friend to the injured pop queen.

The Dark Knight vs. James Franco at the Box Office

Poor James Franco. Despite an awesome movie and some hilarious videos, Batman still beat the Green Goblin at the box office.
Although "The Dark Knight" Batpodded into our hearts with its complicated storyline and wonderful performances, we do wonder if all those explosions and car chases might be the work of a a much bigger and dirtier villain than the Joker.
And while Pineapple Express has its fair share of carbon-emitting explosions—spoiler alert: the things you saw in the trailer actually happen!—the smaller budget and scale mean that it may not have earned as much money, but it definitely cost the world a bit less.
Okay, that is a bit heavy-handed. But we’ve already seen The Dark Knight twice and it’s starting to invade our brains.

Salma Hayek may have ended her engagement to French billionaire Francois-Henri Pinault but weddings are still on her mind. Hayek, one of the executive producers of Ugly Betty, plans to expand her producing empire to include a reality tv show about couples planning their nuptials. No news, yet, on how Hayek’s show will differ from Bridezilla but one way would be to incorporate the green wedding advice found at Portovert, slap on some slick graphics, call it eco-friendly and then pitch it to Planet Green.
