I’s on K Street (9.17.08): Sugary Sweet Deals for the Environment

John, Cindy, and daughter Meghan McCain with Fla Gov Charlie Crist

I'S ON K STREETThe federal government isn’t freezing out the environment—for once. A judge has rejected plans that would allow 500 more snowmobiles into Yellowstone National Park a day, expressing concern over air pollution and messing with the wildlife. We always knew they had it in them.

Even the states are trying! During the summer, Florida agreed to buy out the U.S. Sugar Corp., which has been accused of polluting the Everglades. Turns out this eco-friendly project to restore the alligators’ home is actually going to require more land, but that isn’t stopping Governor Charlie Crist, who may have to deal with the other sugar superpower.

Nancy Pelosi (whose daughter is making a political documentary for HBO) may have sold out on offshore drilling, but the GOP isn’t buying it. Sucks for them because this is probably the only drill bill that’ll come up this fall!

Also sucky for right-wingers: getting hate mail over the music they’ve used at events. Not that the music’s bad (it’s better than Kat DeLuna at the Cowboys game at least), but the mostly liberal artists are bitching about being associated with McCain. And of course the stubborn mule elephant would rather argue that he hasn’t done anything wrong and would rather make more trouble than just change it.
