What is Human Tetris? It’s the delightfully ridiculous Japanese game show where human contestants attempt to contort their bodies into the weird shape in a wall that is rapidly moving towards them. If they fit through, they earn points for their team. If they don’t fit, they end up in a pool of water. Crazy? Yes. Bizarre? Yes. Is watching a grown man trying to do the splits funny? Hell, yes! The Japanese are so nuts for it that Fox couldn’t resist ordering a few episodes for the U.S. and calling it Hole in the Wall.
Yes, it sounds like the name of a brand of rodent traps that could rival Ketch-All, a cage that catches pests without the use of bait or chemicals that pollute the environment or poison kiddies. Although, if you really want an organic way to get rid of pests (aside from watching cheesy game shows really loudly and using bait-free cages), cats are a tried and proved method. Fox’s dopey name aside, the recent success of American Gladiator has proven that there’s a niche for game shows that dress their contestants up in unflattering, shiny, polyester outfits. Maybe a remake of Legends of the Hidden Temple will be next?
