In an effort to support our new president and encourage others to get involved, Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher have teamed up with MySpace to create The Presidential Pledge, a video in which their celebrity friends pledge one thing they can do to “be the change”. The video opens with a Shepard Fairey inspired montage that tells the new president he is not alone and vows to answer his call to “look after not only ourselves but each other." At the end of the video they call on others to make their own personal pledge.
In a similar vein, Starbucks is also asking everyone to make a pledge to community service this week and they will get a free a cup of joe in return. There are plenty of simple eco-minded pledges you can make—like pledging to turn off the lights when you leave a room, buy carbon offsets when you fly, turn off the water while brushing your teeth, or buy organic.
