So, Fashion Week has come to a close, and I have so much to tell you! We sat front row at quite a few shows, and had a great view of Anna Wintour for a good portion of the week. Girlfriend definitely wears her sunglasses at night. I’m also thinking her hair might be fake.
My favorite moment of the week was a secret DVF show we managed to snag seats to. Along with free gift cards, and a show that displayed Diane’s Spring/Summer 09 collection along with a bit of her Fall/Winter 09 looks, we got to see DVF herself, interviewed onstage with Andre Leon Talley. I died and went to fashionista heaven.
Wednesday morning we sat front row at Nanette Lepore. I know I’ve said this about other lines, but I wanted every piece. Are you there, God? It’s me, Clotheshorse. Can you Fedex me some Nanette? My Twitter update from this show reads: “Note to self: mix tweed, leopard and sequins. The show also displayed some highly covetable neckwear.
Next, we took in Richard Chai, another personal favorite of mine. Chai showed patterned pants with matching shoes, creating an exaggerated silhouette that I wouldn’t be able to pull off but enjoyed nonetheless. My heart skipped a few beats over some tight leather pants.
We hit up the Michael Angel presentation, which featured some fabulously structured dresses and separates. However, we couldn’t get over the fact that the models just stand there like living dolls while everyone scrutinizes. Talk about awkward.
While I lamented over the insane amount of plastic waste generated by the SmartWater bottles available for free in every corner of the tents, I reveled in the amount of reusable bags. We snagged YKK totes perfect for carrying an extra pair of flats to relieve sore footsies. Many a show gave our their swag in eco-friendly totes as well, and I saw a woman carrying a handbag that read, “Shop with a reusable bag, b*tch!” We can holler at that.
