Wrist gauntlets by Matthew Williamson

Fashionista by Ashley David - Click for more from The ClotheshorseMilan Fashion Week came and went, and now it’s on to Paris. I’ve been scouting my favorite collections online. So far, Karl Lagerfeld sent furry Pac-man like helmets down the runway, and Margiela decided topless was better. Balmain was, as always, covetable (and tres pricey). DSquared showed a collection that looked like Mary-Kate Olsen (Starbucks cups and all) had taken to the runway. Critics pooh-pooed, but I liked the laid back look.

DsquaredFur has made a big splash on the runways, much to PETA’s chagrin. Personally, I prefer faux, but I have to say I adore all the wrist gauntlets popping up from New York to Paris.

Stella McCartney showed faux-leather thigh high boots at her show in Paris. They had Rachel Zoe dying, and had her assistant Brad claiming they were probably made from “potatoes and mashed up cauliflower.” Leave it to Stella to make green appealing to leather-loving Zoe.

Isabel Marant showed a collection in Paris that perfectly blended irresistably soft jersey knits with girly skirts and structured jackets. Note to self: micro-florals and blazers come fall; need leopard print jacket, stat.

QSWI might just find some of those jersey knits at the new Quiksilver store on Mercer Street. Who knew the surfer brand did fashion? Apparently they’re heading in a new direction with QSW, a concept store that will sell a collection that retails for under $100. Best of all, 1/3 of the line is eco-friendly! I’ve got my eye on the striped dress!

Lindsay Lohan’s leggings line was a success, so she’s moving on to self-tanner. LiLo’s new line, Sevin Nyne (her favorite numbers), will hopefully make girlfriend some much needed cash. Methinks she should send Momma Dina a complimentary bottle to show her that tan doesn’t not equal orange.

Speaking of LiLo, her no-pants policy may have been more fashion forward than we realized. Thigh-high boots are turning out to this season’s biggest runway trend. They’ve shown with dresses, garters, and with fur. Cool? Yes. Wearable? Not so much.

I’ve discovered a great new green designer. Brigid Catiis proves eco-chic is possible. She recycles vintage fabrics and creates new separates and dresses that are as adorable as they are sustainable.
