Last week, we called out Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie for not bringing reusable bags to the grocery store. Well, we’re happy to report that at least Brad’s mom was paying attention. On Saturday, Brad, his parents, Maddox and Pax were all spotted boarding a plane in Long Island to Niagara Falls where they did some sight-seeing. Brad’s mom was carrying a large reusable shopping bag onto the plane that was most likely filled with goodies for the boys, Grandmas are good like that. If you need a reusable bag, check out 1 Bag at a Time, you can order a variety pack of reusable bags for $9.90.

More on Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt Getting Married…Officially

The cast of The Hills traded in their bar hopping gear for some fancy schmancy suits and dresses for Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt’s wedding this past weekend. Even Lauren Conrad, who had previously told the media she would be selling her wedding invite on E-Bay, was there in a short blue dress and her signature cascading curls. The usual suspects were present, including Frankie, Brody, Lo, Audrina and Spencer’s pube-alicious dirt ‘stache.
The best part of the night? Kristen Cavallari, better known as the sexy bitch/LC’s nemesis from Laguna Beach, caught the bouquet. This is the perfect segue to her six episode arc on The Hills. Nice work, Adam D! We’ve already sent Speidi a wedding present. We got them this juice machine, which we packaged in a Tiffany’s box. They can save money and go green by juicing their own O.J. Or, they can juice Heidi’s fake boobs. Either way, they’ll be putting our gift to good use!

The Greenhorne Report (4.27.09): Swine Flu, Global Warming, Car Crashes and Speidi Terrorize America!

The United States government has declared a public health emergency over the swine flu. Health officials have only confirmed 20 mild cases in the U.S., but speculate that the virus is moving fast and expect to find more cases. The virus killed 80 people in Mexico.
Former Vice-President, and all-around awesome dude, Al Gore urged Congress to pass a law reducing greenhouse gas emission. The bill would reduce emissions back to 1990’s levels.
Casey Aldridge, Jamie Lynn Spears’s baby daddy was hospitalized after a car crash on Sunday morning. Aldridge had been driving home from a fishing trip with his friends when the crash occurred. While in stable condition, he is scheduled to undergo surgery for a blood-clot near his brain.
Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag, of The Hills fame, tied the knot (we think legally) this past Saturday. Lauren Conrad and Spiedi put aside their feud for long enough for LC to attend the wedding. Let the countdown to their divorce begin.

The Clotheshorse (Special Report): Manhattan Vintage Show

Ya’ll probably read Bacon Bits’ last post about how I leave my Christmas lights on for my cat, and thought, gee Clotheshorse, you’re not as green as you say you are. In hopes of making up for the fact that BB and I took a cab two blocks to the Zipcar Green Confessions Event on Wednesday night, I spent Friday reveling in gorgeous clothing at the Manhattan Vintage Show. Hopefully you were following along on my Twitter!
What’s so green about shopping? Well, my dear beanies, buying vintage or used clothing means that in the scheme of things, less new clothing has to be created. If you buy vintage, you buy green! Best of all, vintage is generally one of a kind, so you can be kind to the environment while wearing something no one else has. Check this out: that Louis Vuitton suitcase you see in the picture? It’s actually repurposed Louis leather that no one wanted. The guy takes unwanted LV and reworks it into everything from suitcases to toilet seats. Talk about a great way to recycle!

The Clotheshorse (4.24.09): Susan Boyle Gets Her Eyebrows Plucked; Rachel Bilson to Write For InStyle

Hey Beanies! Clotheshorse here. I’m going to be live tweeting today from the Manhattan Vintage Show. Check out my Twitter for updates on everything from the price of a vintage Chanel handbag to my supreme haggling skills. In honor of Earth Day, let’s remember that sustainable clothing isn’t the only option. Recycling = green, recycling clothes = vintage, therefore, vintage = green. Why buy something new when you can buy something with a story?
In honor of Earth Day, which was Wednesday, for all those living under a rock, check out Fashionista’s post on eco-friendly beauty products that a) actually work and b) smell nice.
Susan Boyle is anti-fashion. She prefers to be short and plump, and no, she doesn’t want a makeover! She did, however, get her eyebrows done. A step in the right direction, sister!
Louis Vuitton is turning over an eco-friendly leaf! The brand is donating 15% of all of its US online sales to The Climate Project.
There was a Matt and Nat sale on Gilt Groupe this week. I scooped up this eco-friendly, vegan handbag. I love that sustainable fashion is going mainstream!
Rachel Bilson, a fashion-forward celeb who’s created a line for DKNY and is consistently lauded for her style sense, has been awarded a monthly column in InStyle magazine. She’ll talk trends, and answer reader’s questions. How fab!
Online retailer Tobi is doing their part to go green! They’ve declared their love for “The Ugly Box” – The store will be recycling all the boxes they receive on a daily basis and repurposing them to send us our clothes! They claim reducing their carbon footprint is more beautiful than a pretty box. Amen!
Lauren Conrad may have taken a hiatus on her namesake line, but that’s probably because she’s been busy designing a line of lower priced goods for Kohls. I’m thinking her signature jersey pieces, but for less dough. Sounds good to me!
The Matthew Williamson for H&M line debuted today. I decided to skip the hullabaloo, and I’m glad I did – eager fashionistas clogged the dressing rooms, grabbing two of a kind with the knowledge that they could return one later. The items sold out in less than 30 minutes here in NYC. In Toyko, however, the shelves remained untouched. Wonder why?
The Miss Universe pageant has come under fire for letting a super skinny contestant complete. Stephanie Naumoska is 5’11’, 19 years old, and weighs maybe 100 pounds. Girl, eat a cheeseburger, stat. heal thyself – or get thee to a runway.

Dakota Fanning House Hunts in Four-inch Heels

Dakota Fanning was caught looking for new digs in Santa Monica with her mother, Joy, on Monday. It looks like Dakota was having a good time looking at houses or maybe she was thinking about shooting her scenes for New Moon in the next couple weeks. What girl wouldn’t smile over some face time with Robert Pattinson? On the other hand, it doesn’t seem like anyone could be happy in the super-high platform shoes Dakota was wearing. If she insists on wearing four inch heels, she should check out these Neu Aura animal friendly heels with rubber bottoms to increase the comfort factor.

Rihanna and Katy Perry Talk Tour Dates
Friday April 24th 2009, 12:56 am

Rumor has it our girl Rihanna is getting back on the horse, diving into hardcore work mode. Ok, so she was seen boating in Barbados with Katy Perry the other day, but it seems this was a meeting of the minds, not a tanning date. Rihanna has plans to tour North America come September, and word on the street is that she wants other strong and fabulous women to join her on stage. That’s where Miz Perry comes in. Also rumored to be joining the two: Ciara and Keyshia Cole. None of the acts are confirmed, but it seems Ri is looking for some female empowerment.
We think it’s a smart move on all fronts. It’s good that Ri is getting back to what she loves: performing. It’s also a great message to send to all the ladies out there. Yes we can, girls! Speaking of sending a great message, what kind of message did you send Wednesday? It was Earth Day, duh. Did you take a shorter shower? Take out your recycling and put everything in the correct can? Pledge to reduce your carbon footprint? We did all of the above, suckas.

Citizen Beanstockd (4.23.09): Miss California Carrie Prejean “Blessed” with Homophobia
Thursday April 23rd 2009, 12:33 pm

Hey Guys, I hope your Earth Day was as much fun as mine! The Clotheshorse and I attended a “Green Confessions” party that was given by ZipCar, the car sharing service that makes renting a car less annoying. Before I go any further, it should be noted that Sarah and I were by far the best dressed people in the room. Okay, now we can move on. So the point of the party was that you twitter your eco-sins and they’re broadcast onto these big monitors set up all around the club. As is typical for Beanstockd, we began the night buttoned up and as professional as can be—it was all downhill from there. To give you an idea, here are the confessions we tweeted:
6:30pm – We took a cab two blocks.
7:00pm – I leave my Christmas lights on for my cat.
7:30pm – I can’t live without air conditioning.
8:00pm – Beanstockd talks a greener game than they practice.
8:30pm – Beanstockd writers would never commit any eco sins. Y’all must be crazy.
9:00pm – Beanstockd will kick all your asses.
9:30pm (quittin’ time) – That was Bruce, who can’t kick any ass.
One more thing before I go. There hasn’t been this much turmoil over a Beanstockd post since we said Chace Crawford is what Zac Efron would look like if he were straight. Our site was inundated this week by a bunch of crazed right-wingers after we called Miss California stupid for making homophobic statements about gay marriage at the Miss USA pageant. I just hope these folks know history will put them in the same boat as the people who were anti-integration and anti-abolition. They’re lucky my name’s not History, because I look at them like Nazis and Ku Klux Klan members. They’re probably climate change doubters also.

CaliBean (Earth Day!): Mel Gibson & Oksana, Passion of the Tryst
Wednesday April 22nd 2009, 3:10 am
Filed under:
Beanstockd

This week, I basked in the naked glory of Peter, Paul and Mary. (I speak Biblically, too.) In the comfort of my very own parents’ car, I karaoke-d “If I Had Been Hammered,” “Poof the Magic Dragqueen,” and other classic favorites only to realize, nine Pee Pee & Em tracks later, that I was unmarried.
But, I am by no means single. No, ma’am. Journal entry dating back to today:
“Dear Diary and Random House Publishing, I dreamed a dream of Mel Gibson. Do you think he’ll leave his wife for me, or for that bitch Oksana? OMG, I hope it’s me. Miss California says divorce is between a man’s legs. I’m, like, always there! P.S. Remind Mel to take Provenge.”
Now, don’t judge a journal by its entries. It’s massively publishable, especially if Barnes & Noble packages it as a two-for-one deal with the torture memos Prezzy Obama may release. Lord knows you’ll need some light reading after following my play-by-play sex diary, especially entries made during my Zac Efron phase. (Oh, to be fifty-three again!) On a rousing note, it’s okay to be unmarried. Susan Boyle ain’t hitched, and she’s awesome. Oprah is single, and she’s Ohhhhh-prah. Lindsay Lohan, also, is definitely alone.
So I’m by myself in the car of my dreams, still singing. As sung by me, folk music of the sixties invokes a bittersweet longing for lost innocence and for peace in times of turbulence. For this reason, I am inspired by my own voice to become a born-again herbivore and regrow my meat virginity. (That’s what Shih said.) First on the menu are these adorable vegan shoes, though (obviously) I won’t be satiated on lettuce Crocs alone. Enter vegan hemp pants.
Also this week, I told my sister she was adopted and we only paid two rupees for her, which was apparently a steal.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie Choose Plastic

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were spotted with Zahara and Shiloh at a Long Island Stop and Shop picking up groceries over the weekend. The family is staying at the Sassafras Estate while Angie finishes filming scenes for her next movie, Salt, in NYC. One of the store’s employees told reporters the couple was kind to everyone and very open. “They were here for 30 minutes and left. They were very friendly. They gave autographs and allowed people to take pictures of them inside…very nice!” That’s great that they were so friendly to the customers, now if they could only be a bit friendlier to the Earth. In photos of the family leaving Stop and Shop, their cart is filled with plastic groceries bags, not reusable bags that are much more eco-friendly, and quite frankly, more stylish. This is a shocking move from a man who is involved in Global Green USA. Maybe it’s time you start practicing what you preach there, Brad!
