The May issue of Vogue

Fashionista by Ashley David - Click for more from The ClotheshorseVogue’s May 2009 issue is special – it’s an issue for which the cover features real models, not celebrities, but more importantly, it’s the third consecutive cover featuring women of color. Model Liya Kebede appears on the cover, and Jourdan Dunn appears in the foldout. Beyonce covered Vogue’s April issue, while Mobama took March. Good work, Anna!

Vogue May 09 foldoutDid you hear that Alec Baldwin is dating Elle’s Joanna Cox? Yes, the girl who won Stylista. We saw her during NY Fashion Week. She’s pretty, but looks very intense.

Have you seen the Zoe&Zac collection at Payless? The shoes are all eco-friendly – created by model/eco-activist Summer Rayne Oaks, the entire collection of sustainable shoes goes for under $30 a pair.

Online retailer Yoox has gone green! On April 15th, just a few days before Earth Day, they introduced Yooxygen, where eco-friendly shoppers can find green products including clothes, handbags and even shoes! Yooxygen will also showcase green capsule collections available exclusively through the site.

I found Rachel Zoe on Facebook. She says she wishes the background were leopard print. Don’t we all, Zoe. Don’t we all.

Forever 21 on top; Trovata is the power bottomOh shiitza – you may not remember this, but over two years ago, Forever21 copied Trovata. Peep the picture. Forevs’ is the top row, Trovata is the bottom. Trovata sued; the two companies go to court next month. A jury will decide whether Forever21 can go on copying clothes, a decision which will change the fate of fast fashion forever.

Whitney Port left DVF. What will become of The City? Kelly Cutrone is getting her own show on Bravo, Kell on Earth. How can she film two shows at once?

Have you seen Elle’s Blue Issue? A play on their green issue, the magazine focused on all things blue from water conservation to denim recycling. With tips on eco-friendly brands like Bodkin and recycled jewelry from the John Hardy Bamboo Collection, this is an issue you can’t miss.

Loomstate for Target hits stores on the 19th. Don’t miss Rogan Gregory’s fabulous sustainable goods!

The Outnet (Net-a-Porter’s Outlet website) launched on Thursday. A quick look reveals that it’s full of designers, but that much of the goods are a few seasons old. However, given that the real Net-a-Porter will never be within my financial reach, I’m a fan. The Outnet is like a yearlong sample sale!
