Ready or not, the holidays are in full swing. The evidence is everywhere, in the new Christmas music (like Leighton Meester's rendition of “Christmas Baby, Please Come Home“), the Black Friday flyers and the faces of frazzled shoppers. But don't worry, by cutting holiday waste, you can also cut the holiday stress. According to the EPA, household waste jumps 25% between Thanksgiving and New Year's Day. So, instead of just wadding up that wrapping paper and throwing out the leftovers, make a few simple changes that will help reduce the waste and make your life way easier. Like, instead of wasting money on wrapping paper, you can go old school and use newspapers, magazines or old maps to wrap gifts. You can also lead by example by not using plastic utensils, plates or cups when entertaining. And when the festivities are over, pack each guest a doggy bag of leftovers rather than throwing them out. Finally, buy those Christmas tunes via digital download, rather than purchasing a CD. You can even get Leighton's new song now on iTunes as part of the collection, "A Very Special Christmas 7".
