Madonna turned 50 this weekend! She was seen partying up with her husband, Guy Ritchie…who knows what’s going on with those two these days. But, mad props to her for rocking out, when my parents’ idea of a night on a town is a trip to the movies to see Mamma Mia.
Michael Phelps, boy wonder, won his eighth gold medal Sunday morning, with the help of the men’s 400m medley swim team. Any day now, the doping tests are going to reveal that Phelps is actually a fish. We predict this will prompt a worldwide debate on "What it means to be human" and the Chinese will breathe a sigh of relief that no one’s talking about their polluted air or their illegal 12 year old gymnasts anymore. Ha ha just kidding, Phelps. We know you’re not a fish. Although, is this true? The most decorated Olympian in history is dating model Lily Donaldson? Bet she doesn’t mind your double jointed fins.
Spotted: Disney money-maker Miley Cyrus riding her bike around town. She’d probably love DC’s SmartBike Program. The bike sharing program is similar to those in Barcelona and Paris. After paying a $40 annual fee, those 18 or older receive a "smart card", which allows them to check out a bike at a time for up to 3 hours. The initiative is part of a 20 year agreement between DC and the advertising company Clear Channel Outdoor.
Cold War this is not. Stuff’s heating up in Georgia. Even though Russia has agreed to pullout of the former Soviet country (beginning Monday), Russian troops have literally been digging in this past weekend. Troops dug fortified barriers for their tanks and are calling a captured Georgian military base their home. But, at least there are no shots being fired.
