Unless you a) don’t own a television or b) have no soul, you probably watched Monday night’s GG episode. You probably, like me, drooled over the “Eleanor Waldorf” clothes (aka, Abigail Lorick’s clothes) and wondered how in the hell Serena ended up in Women’s Wear Daily. Let’s be honest, Serena’s great, but OMFG, this has got to be the weirdest product placement, well, EVER.
In other not-so-weird-collaborations news, Anya Hindmarch for Target is on its way! Timeline: Anya’s selling the bags on her own website now until October 12th! Then, Oct 12th, the bags hit Target’s website, then hit Target stores Oct 14th. I’m generally not a fan of the Target Designer Collabs when they have to do with bags (cheap leather always looks like cheap leather, see Botkier for Target), but Anya’s designs look surprisingly chic. Not to mention, I love Anya for her reusable “I’m not a plastic bag” bag last year.
Rei Kawakubo (of Comme des Garçons) for H&M is coming soon, and the lookbook has dropped. I can’t figure out why anyone would spend $350 on an H&M dress. Anyone care to enlighten me?
If you’re looking to do some other online shopping, check out Redewin, a recently launched online store of eco-friendly vintage and vintage reconstruction. The Redewin site claims they’re “re-dewin (ree-doo-ing) thinking about wasteful consumption and re-dewin what we already have.” The clothes aren’t for the faint of fashion-heart, but the concept is great, and some of the tops could pass for Urban Outfitters clothes.
Note: the whole repurposing thing is totally DIY. Anyone with a sewing machine can dissect their old goods and put them back together again. It’s much less wasteful than buying new ones. Cheaper, greener, what could be better?
The first pics of Whitney Port’s line have surfaced and they’re…not so great. I actually had high hopes for Whit. According to Kitson, the line is called Whitney Eve. It was originally called Eve & A (a quick check to the official website of the line reveals it’s called Eve & A there as well). Apparently, Kitson needs a better fact checker.
Finally, Louis Vuitton has tapped Sofia Coppola to design a small capsule collection of handbags and shoes. Both of the Coppolas are featured in the latest LV campaign; but Coppola as a designer?
