Pat Field’s collection for UK retailer Marks and Spencer has been revealed, and I can’t help but wonder, influenced by Carrie Bradshaw much? Clearly, Field’s the one who created the CB look, but isn’t she technically knocking off the original designers of the looks?
Lauren Conrad’s Spring 09 collection debuted Tuesday night as part of LA Fashion Week (which kicked off with a green element). BFF Lo, ex Jason Wahler and others, supported her though Audrina was noticeably absent. Guess that Justin Bobby drama really dealt the girls a tough hand.
JCPenney is on a roll! Next up on their list of designer collaborations: ABS Alan B Schwartz, tapped to design a “California cool” dress and sportswear collection. First Charlotte Ronson, now this. Wonder if they’re trying to steal Target’s thunder?
Teen favorite CosmoGirl is officially finito. Adios, CG. I appreciated that blog post you did about going green. It’s been a nice ride. Hey, at least it’ll save some paper.
Bad news for retailers: September’s numbers show that retail sales plunged the largest amount in three years last month as buyers pulled back in fear of a financial recession. I’ll admit, even I’ve been shopping less. However, this has caused me to recycle items that I already have, instead of contributing to the incredibly wasteful cycle of fast fashion. But le sigh, I miss shopping.
Hopefully things will be better by Christmas, because that’s when the Thakoon for Target collection launches. Thakoon told WWD to expect lots of prints, so we’re thinking things will look like Michelle Obama’s printed sheaths, which I’d totally rock for NYE!
Fab alert: Straight from the likes of Rachel Zoe and Nicole Richie comes the trend of fuzzy vests. While I’d usually recommend sitting this out, as the vests tend to be expensive, this one’s an easy DIY (so green)! Just snag a large rectangle of thick faux fur or fuzzy fabric, cut some armholes, and voila! Instant style.
