Fashionista by Ashley David - Click for more from The ClotheshorseI might not be an A-list celebrity (nor a D-list one, for that matter), but earlier this week, I had the pleasure of getting the Kate Winslet treatment at the Tracie Martyn Spa. A couple of months ago, Bacon Bits, Informr Bean and I met Tracie and her business partner Marius at the Eco-Luxe event. Tracie and Marius were there to promote their celebrity-endorsed, all natural, anti aging skin care line and its corresponding spa treatments. We oohed and ahhed over the gorgeous eco-friendly packaging of the products (their signature “Purple is Green” boxes are made from FSC certified cardboard and printed with soy ink) and went home dreaming of the day when we too could undergo celebrity spa treatments.

Imagine my surprise then, when Marius himself emailed me and said he’d like to squeeze me in for a treatment. I’d be getting the Golden Globe Resculpting Facial (just like Kate Winslet!); Diane Von Furstenberg had the appointment before mine. Fast forward to the next morning, where, following the miracle of Tracie’s Resculpting Facial, I admired my gorgeous-as-a-baby’s-bottom skin. Here’s the thing about Tracie and Marius — though they work day in and day out with ridiculously famous folk, they’re incredibly down to earth — and best of all, they truly care about being green.

Tracie Martyn salonMarius created the compounded ingredients in the Tracie Martyn line of eco-friendly anti-aging products; the pair has converted DVF, Madonna, Susan Sarandon and more to a greener lifestyle that goes hand in hand with their ecologically friendly skincare. In a world where younger is always better, and stars are pressured to look fresh at any given moment, Tracie and Marius have created a line of treatments and products that give the results of surgery without ever going under the knife. This alone is impressive, but it’s their commitment to going green all the way that makes us love them. With ingredients like rose water, organic jojoba oil, rosemary and green tea, every product that sits on the shelf of the Tracie Martyn salon is all-natural.

Marius and I spoke about the inclusion of harmful chemicals in many of today’s cosmetic products — though manufacturers may claim these small amounts of chemicals aren’t damaging our bodies, they are — not to mention they’re damaging our environment. What goes into our bodies ultimately goes into our water, which ultimately goes into the ground, and so on and so forth. Marius has worked hard to discover combinations of all-natural ingredients that have the same effects as the harmful and harsh chemicals without all the nasty ecological side effects. Tracie and Marius’ “when in doubt, leave them out” philosophy has led not only to great success, but to a line of products they can proudly state are all eco-friendly, all the time. Hey, if it’s good enough for Kate Winslet, it’s good enough for me.
